  3. WELCOME TO PRODUCTIONPARTNER

  5. RCN is pleased to present version 1.67 of ProductionPartner, a
  6. professional tool for harddisk-recording, playing, editing and
  7. archiving of high quality (CD) sounds. You can rearrange, cut,
  8. paste and edit sounds. Sounds can be collected in archives called
  9. playlists which are unities within ProductionPartner.
  10.  
  11. In addition text, images and movies may be used in a .rtfd file
  12. which is attached to each sound for description or background info
  13. on sound, like in a CD database. The program may be used to master
  14. audio CDs.
  15.  
  16. Support for NeXT Computer and Intel based NEXTSTEP systems is
  17. available now. On Intel based Systems you need a NEXTSTEP supported
  18. sound card (we recommend SoundBlaster16, new Plug & Play cards not
  19. tested yet). For SUN and HP workstations ProductionPartner is
  20. available too, but for both architectures the current version is a
  21. beta release.

  38. ABOUT PRODUCTIONPARTNER
  39.  
  40. ProductionPartner is a NEXTSTEP application for recording, playing,
  41. editing and archiving of sounds. You can play, cut, paste and edit
  42. sounds. Sounds can be collected and rearranged in archives called
  43. playlists which are unities within ProductionPartner.

  45. Via documents (list of sounds) you can easily administrate sounds
  46. or search and find text marks. Therefore besides the sound data
  47. ProductionPartner stores additional informations (e. g. the author
  48. of the sound or any other comments) in .rtfd format. By the way
  49. sound files can be located on other machines within a network; the
  50. sounds will be linked or copied.

  52. Thus you can include graphics, videos or pictures in your audio
  53. archive just like in a multimedia archive. A comfortable sound
  54. editor permits displaying and cutting of sounds, subsequent level
  55. change and other effects.

  57. BroadcastPartner: We offer an extention for ProductionPartner called
  58. BroadcastPartner which offers you an automation of radio broadcast.
  59. Another extension to ProductionPartner to distribute music through
  60. networks for music production and publication firms is under
  61. development, special solutions are available. For further informations

  65. Special features of ProductionPartner compared with other sound
  66. applications available for NEXTSTEP:
  67.  
  68.     * ProductionPartner is the only NEXTSTEP application which enables you to
  69.       record sounds in CD quality (44.1 kHz, stereo) on intel hardware
  70.     * ProductionPartner is a harddisc recording AND playing system,
  71.       your swapdisc won't grow if you use big sounds. Therefore
  72.       ProductionPartner doesn't need much more memory to play big sounds.
  73.     * ProductionPartner can play sounds longer than six minutes.
  74.       Because of a bug in NEXTSTEP normally you can't do this so almost all
  75.       other sound applications fail to play such sounds!
  76.     * ProductionPartner has a time bar to jump to any position in your
  77.       sound or sound list WITHOUT delay during playback even using
  78.       very large sounds! You can do this with a single mouse click.
  79.     * The editor of ProductionPartner supports a reduction factor smaller one
  80.       so you can zoom in as far as you want! Moreover, it's much faster than
  81.       most of the other sound editors, and it needs less memory.
  82.     * ProductionPartner offers you a frontend for making backups (tar format)
  83.       of your sound library on a streamer or other devices.
